What differentiates D2L Brightspace from other similar products?

D2L is unique to us because how easy it is to integrate our customized and localized learning contents, quizes and exams into it. Also the assessment tool is quite good compared to other products. Instructor can easily evaluate students coursework without any hassle. It’s scalability is perfect for us as we need to support our online students.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The favorite thing I like is one single dashboard to see upcoming quizzes , assignments, graded quizzes and the exams which is user friendly and easy to us reported by our students. On the other hand, instructors also quite enjoy grading course work of students because D2L is really easy to use for them.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The frustrating thing about is that the mobile view. It’s not good at all. Some students report the layout doesn’t quite fit their screen and they have to force to use their laptop even if they just need to access the course material. Another thing is the learning curve, even if D2L has documentation which covers everything but almost every of our student get confused when starting to use it.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Firstly, try to test quiz workflow in the demo system to find out it it’s working for your and your peers. Also ask D2L’s support for data migration support so that you don’t have to redo everything from scratch which will probably increase your operational cost . Run a trial semester with real students not your internal employees. Find out what works and what not, run mandatory survey as a part of their coursework.
