What differentiates SailPoint Identity Security Cloud from other similar products?

SailPoint ISC matched all our Musts, Shoulds and Coulds when we performed a MoSCoW analysis as part of our procurement. It was the only solution that did at the time.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It can be implemented in a modular way - that is - get the core JML elements working - then build on top. This allowed us to do a phased cutover with our outgoing system an element at a time. That's really reassuring in a large complex environment.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some of the coding can become complex... as we became more mature with our implementation we realised we wanted to restructure some of our foundational code. That was quite difficult to do, though I'm not sure how it could have been made easier.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Talk to other customers - learn how they implemented it, their challenges and successes. It's a good community and sharing experiences is a really good way to ensure your implementation succeeds.

What differentiates SailPoint Identity Security Cloud from other similar products?

We switched from OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager to SailPoint to improve identity governance, automation, and scalability. SailPoint provides better visibility into user access, more streamlined access certification processes, and stronger governance capabilities across both on-premises and cloud environments. Compared to our previous system, SailPoint offers a more modern user experience, easier integration with enterprise applications, and more efficient lifecycle management, helping reduce manual effort while improving security and compliance.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

What stands out most to me about SailPoint is its focus on identity governance. It provides strong visibility into who has access to what, automates key access management processes, and helps organizations strengthen security while meeting compliance requirements.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There were situations where the AI recommendations lacked enough business context and required manual validation before action could be taken.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend SailPoint to organizations that need strong identity governance, access certification, and lifecycle management capabilities. The platform provides good visibility into user access, supports compliance requirements, and helps automate provisioning and deprovisioning processes. To maximize success, invest time in planning roles, access models, and integrations before implementation.

What differentiates SailPoint Identity Security Cloud from other similar products?

Multiple integration are possible when it comes to Application Onboarding & Automated Rights assignement.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The administration of the tool (from an IGA admin perspective) is very intuitive. But it aslo allows to handle more complex though scripting by using the different API endpoints. Using those API endpoints make the administration, application onboarding, etc.. easier.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some logical concept are not possible to implement in ISC. E.G. Onboarding an application that runs on multiples sources (AD, Entra ID , Admin AD) and show it as one application from and end-user pespective.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Make sure the project is well defined before buying the product. ISC offers multiples features but they need some preparation and Business awarennes upfront.
