A headless API based commerce platform

What differentiates commercetools from other similar products?

Commercetools is natively API-based and the source code of the platform is not visible to the partners or customers, which adds uniquenesss to this product. In addition, most of the commerce features are available out-of-the-box and can easily be accessed using APIs.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The favorite aspect is the ease of development, since there is no code access, developers are free to use the APIs and customize the product as per the customer requirements.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some of the complex commerce features are not available out-of-the-box and sometimes the developers end up writing the entire feature in microservices.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would suggest to use this product if you are planning to transition from monolithic to microservies based architecture. Commercetools provides APIs which allow easy integration with third-party services. It is also cloud based, however, you may have to develop your own frontend and deploy. The backend part is already abstracted within commercetools, but If you have complex requirements and heavy customizations. then you may end up doing them in microservices in addition to using commercetools features.
